Brooklyn Dumpling Shop recently became the first in a series of upcoming new tenant announcements headed for MiamiCentral station, the six-block leisure, dining, and transportation hub in downtown Miami.

Set to welcome diners in summer of 2024, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop will offer its unique, technology-driven, contactless restaurant serving classic dumplings, bowls, and small "snack-like" bites.

When it opens next year, the Brooklyn Dumpling Shop menu will peddle traditional dumplings — with a tech-savvy twist.

At Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, the ordering process is completely automated. The food is served in soup containers, and dumplings come in three- to five-item increments. There are Asian-inspired versions, as well as more far-flung creations like chicken parm, Reuben, and Philly cheesesteak.

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop has its roots in New York City. It was launched in May 2021 in response to the pandemic and aimed to supply both comfort food and social distancing.

The restaurant is thanks to Stratis Morfogen, a New York-based restaurateur who Miamians might remember from his now-closed South Beach collaboration with chef Philippe Chow. In New York, Morfogen is behind heavy hitters like Jue Lan Club and Brooklyn Chop House with partners Robert Cummins and Dave Thomas.

Morfogen is no stranger to dumplings, however. In December 2020, he published Damn Good Dumplings, a book that includes recipes for 60 different varieties of both boiled and steamed dumplings.

Like its soon-to-be Miami counterpart, the flagship Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, located in Manhattan's East Village, offers patrons contactless ordering and delivery for a variety of novelty dumplings.

Order your meal on the screen, swipe your credit card, and then wait in front of what looks like a wall of microwave ovens until your ticket number flashes with a corresponding locker number. And, voilà, the locker opens, and you extract your meal.

Though exact locations beyond Miami have not been disclosed, Brooklyn Dumpling Shop's website teases Broward County and Orlando as "coming soon."

Located at Northwest First Avenue, MiamiCentral, the project — anchored by Brightline's Miami train station and home to ParkLine Miami's luxury rental residences — encompasses 130,000 square feet of retail space and connectivity to Metromover, Metrorail, and Tri-Rail. Office tenants within the encompassing 2MiamiCentral and 3MiamiCentral include Blackstone, Ernst & Young, Uber, Carlton Fields, and Viacom.
